In Memoriam: Andrew L. Jefferson Jr.
Former Judge Andrew L. Jefferson Jr. died on Dec. 8 at age 74. Jefferson, a solo practitioner in Houston, was the first African-American state district judge in Harris County. He spent most of his career as a trial lawyer, and gave much time to public service, including time as chairman of the board of the Houston branch of the Federal Reserve Bank and chairman of the Texas Southern University Foundation.
