Travis County DA's Office Will Appeal Tom DeLay's Acquittal

Less than four hours after a three-judge panel of the 3rd Court of Appeals reversed former U.S. House of Representative Tom Delay's felony convictions and acquitted him of money laundering and conspiring to money launder, prosecutors from the Travis County District Attorney's office said they will ask the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals to review that ruling.

    The dissent in this case is weak.

    There was no evidence that any corporate money was ever actually used for any illegal purpose. All the evidence points to its use for legal purposes.

    Without such evidence, no rational jury could find beyond a reasonable doubt that the corporations intended for these funds to be used illegally, but somehow had their illegal intent thwarted by TRMPAC.
